Poker dealers are needed in increasing numbers every year. This is in part due to the prestigious World Series of Poker tournament held here in Las Vegas. Tony Shelton Dealing School has a near perfect poker dealer acceptance rating with the prestigious WSOP. Dealers can increase their value and career opportunities through cross training.
Interested in Becoming Licensed as a Dealer Training School?
Applicants interested in becoming licensed as a dealer training school must meet the licensing requirements of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV).
Section 320.27(4)(b), Florida Statutes, establishes the length of training, to not exceed eight hours for required FLHSMV topics nor exceed an additional 24 hours for topics related to other regulatory agencies and any other requirements under this section. The curriculum for other subjects must be approved by any and all other regulatory agencies having jurisdiction over specific subject matters. Prospective Dealer Training School applicants can contact the Dealer License Section at 850-617-3003 (press 1) to speak to a representative for specific question regarding the process.
Types of classes offered include:
- Pre-licensing for all license types.
- Must include training in titling and registration of motor vehicles, laws relating to unfair and deceptive trade practices, laws relating to financing regarding buy-here/pay-here operations and other information that will promote good business practices as determined by the FLHSMV.
- Continuing education for independent motor vehicle dealers only.
- Continuing education shall include at least two hours of legal or legislative issues, one hour of the FLHSMV issues and five hours of relevant motor vehicle industry topics.
The curriculum will be reviewed by the FLHSMV and required changes will be provided to the applicant if needed. After all corrections are submitted, the curriculum will be approved by the FLHSMV and a license to conduct training classes will be issued. Instructors are approved by the FLHSMV to conduct the pre-licensing and continuing education classes for prospective dealers at the dealer training schools.
Once a dealer training school is approved, they are added to the FLHSMV approved list of dealer training schools. Please refer to the table below.
